Dr. Lídia Cedó Giné got a FI grant from Generalitat de Catalunya to do the PhD in Universitat Rovira i Virgili de Tarragona, on the effects of grape seed procyanidins on proliferation and apoptosis of pancreatic cells, under the supervision of Dr. Montserrat Pinent. She got her doctorate in the PhD program of Nutrition and Metabolism in January 2013. During the thesis, she did an international stay in 2011 in Université Paris DIDEROT; and she also gave laboratory classes at the university students of the degrees in Biochemistry and Biotechnology. In March 2013 she obtained a contract for a Senior Research Technician in the group Bases Metabòliques del Risc Cardiovascular, led by Dr. Francisco Blanco, from the Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques Sant Pau. In December 2014 she obtained a postdoctoral researcher contract funded by CIBER in the area of diabetes and associated metabolic diseases (CIBERDEM), in the same group. Her main line of research focused on the metabolic characterization of genetically modified mice as models of dyslipemia (and more specifically in HDL alterations), obesity, diabetes, and arteriosclerosis, and in applied studies of nutritional interventions and pharmacological treatments. In November 2020 she was incorporated as a investigator in the Diamet group, led by Dr. Sonia Fernandez-Veledo, from the Institut d'Investigació Sanitària Pere Virgili in Tarragona. Her actual main line of research focuses on the study of of the contribution of gut microbiota to circulating levels of succinate. From her scientific activity, she has published 41 international publications (18 as first author), and she has co-supervised two Master degrees.
