My project is focused on the understanding how selective autophagy processes are (co)regulated. During my PhD I investigated the role of STARD3, an endosomal overexpressed breast cancer protein, in cholesterol transport. Moreover, I also studied the function of STARD3 in NPC disease, which is characterized by an accumulation of cholesterol in endosomes and a deregulation of autophagy process.
