Career Trajectory
Bio
Dr. Krishnakumar Balu obtained his Bachelor degree (1999-2002) in Chemistry from Government Arts College, C-Mutlore, affiliated to University of Madras, India and Master degree (2002-2004) in Chemistry from Annamalai University, Annamalainagar, Tamil Nadu, India. He received Ph.D (2005-2012) in Chemistry from Annamalai University, under the guidance of Prof. M. Swaminathan, Emeritus Scientist (CSIR). Subsequently joined as a postdoctoral fellow, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), Taipei, Taiwan. After completing his term (October 2012-September 2013), He was worked as postdoctoral fellow (from 01/11/2013 to 30/10/2020) under the guidance of Prof. Abílio José F. N. Sobral, University of Coimbra, Portugal, and worked as YFL fellow at Yonsei University (01/12/2020 to 30/04/2020), Seoul, South Korea and also worked as Postdoctoral Researcher at Yeungnam University (01/05/2021 to 31/12/2021), Geongsan, South Korea. He is currently working as a Research Staff in University of Seville, Spain (Since 01/03/2022). His research interests are development of solar active photocatalyst for environmental remediation, investigation of organic photochemical reaction and mechanisms, catalysis based synthesis, fabrication of nano-materials and semiconductor mediated synthesis of novel heterocyclic compounds of biological importance. Right now, he has published 101 papers in reputed National and International Journals of high impact factor among those 45 papers as a first /corresponding author (Grant total impact = 438.089, Average impact factor = 4.337, Total number of citations = 3450 (from Scopus); 3744 (from google scholar) and h index = 32). During his Ph.D., he got JRF (2008-2009) from University Grants Commission (UGC) in SAP scheme, New Delhi, Government of India and SRF (2009-2012) from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, Government of India. He is a hard worker with a good intuition of research. He has an excellent practical skill with familiarity in the preparation, characterization of nanomaterials and their applications in environmental remediation and organic synthesis. He is also familiar in handling various analytical instruments such as UV, FT-IR, GC-MS and TEM. He is a editorial Board Member of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Research, Journal of Materials Physics and Chemistry and Journal of Environment Pollution and Human Health. He is also a Potential Reviewer of many Scientific Journals.
