个人简介
The overall goal of my research is to improve magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology in ways that provide new and useful insights into human health and disease. MRI is a powerful technology capable of non-invasively locating and characterizing soft tissues within the body. MRI has a significant role in healthcare, with over 80 million clinical scans performed annually, and has incredible untapped potential due to its safety, flexibility, and diverse set of contrast mechanisms. I believe there are opportunities to improve existing clinical applications through, for example, the use of faster and more quantitative techniques, and to expand utilization of MRI to include, for example, cardiac, obesity, and sleep apnea assessments. My research group develops the enabling technology, and works closely with experts from other disciplines to validate and translate this technology. We have had successful collaborations (i.e. projects, publications, and grants) with cardiologists, radiologists, pulmonologists, obesity researchers, otolaryngologists, endocrinologists, linguists, and MRI technicians. Our contributions to the field have involved innovative MRI pulse sequence designs, data sampling and reconstruction, and artifact correction techniques.
