Kiril M. Dimitrov

Dr. Kiril Dimitrov is Section Head at TVMDL. He is a veterinarian with a background in virology and molecular diagnostics and research. He has been working with infectious diseases with a focus on Newcastle disease and avian influenza. His main interests are in the field of rapid diagnostics methods that reflect the constant and continuous changes of the genetic makeup of virulent viruses and characterization of their pathogenicity. Dr. Dimitrov is also working on viral molecular epidemiology and evolution and has been extensively researching third- and fourth-generation sequencing and related rapid bioinformatics. Among his past research interest are development of efficient live, inactivated, and recombinant vaccines.
