Bio
Climate Change Ecologist, The Nature Conservancy, North America Program. As part of TNC's North America Science group, I focus on how to update conservation to address risks and opportunities related to climate change. Past projects have included contributing to syntheses on climate impacts/vulnerabilities, and tools and guidance documents to support climate change adaptation actions. Recent work includes providing scientific expertise and supporting stakeholder engagement on TNC's "Resilient and Connected Network (RCN)" assessment, which identifies sites in the US that are most likely to help sustain biodiversity and ecosystem services as the climate changes. As part of this work, I also led a grant from NASA to strengthen the science and tools that underlie the RCN including working with collaborators at Julia Computing to update Brad McRae et al.’s Circuitscape and Omniscape software for connectivity analysis. With partners at USGS and the Wildlife Conservation Society, I also recently co-led a Science for Nature and People Partnership (SNAPP) working group focused on synthesizing information on the ecological impacts of drought across the US, and identifying opportunities to better incorporate consideration of natural systems in community and regional scale drought planning efforts. Within the Conservancy, I am part of North American Region’s LANDFIRE team, and am also an adjunct faculty member in the Departments of Forestry, and Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University
