Academic Focus
Ms. Webster is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Social Sciences. Her main scientific interests evolve around the development of patient-reported outcome questionnaires for clinical practice and research applications, and the application of mixed qualitative and quantitative methods that support valid measurement of health-related quality of life and other outcome measures. She has 25 years of experience in health outcomes research, and has served as co-investigator on numerous federal- and industry-sponsored research initiatives involving the study and measurement of patient-reported outcomes, disease and treatment-related symptoms, and health status in patients with chronic illnesses, as well as the implementation of these measures into clinical trial and other health outcomes research, and clinical care. She has contributed to the development and validation of a variety of health-related quality of life and other PRO measures covering oncology (hematologic malignancies, hepatobiliary cancers, neuroendocrine tumors, melanoma, and kidney, head and neck, ovarian, breast, lung, and gastric cancers), treatment toxicity (hematologic, dermatologic, neurotoxic, and autoimmune effects), cardiology (acute heart failure), neurology (multiple sclerosis), drug dependency (cocaine addiction and recovery), health literacy (outcomes assessment in health literacy), treatment satisfaction and treatment preferences. In addition to her academic work, she serves as the Director of Research Operations, a department-wide human resource of project managers and research coordinators.
