个人简介
My research program focuses on understanding how yeast cells cope with toxic accumulation of misfolded proteins. The biochemistry, genetic and physiology of protein misfolding stress signaling are closely associated with the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, where most of the signaling pathways were first identified. Thus, this simple model organism allows us to study the fundamental principles of stress coping mechanisms that are very often conserved in higher eukaryotes. Importantly, the ability of organisms to manage cellular protein burden deteriorates as they get older. How cells regulate their gene expression to manage stress during the aging process is a crucial question across the natural sciences, from how microorganisms resist to antifungal drugs to the onset of age-dependent human disease. Using the yeast model, my research work seeks to decipher the mechanisms of stress resistance in the regulation on longevity.
