My laboratory focuses on the pathogenicity of eukaryotic microbes researching Chagas Disease, Leishmaniasis, Sleeping Sickness, Giardiasis, Cryptosporidiosis, Toxoplasmosis and Trichomonosis.. We are multidisciplinary and technology led. We are interested in the cell and molecular biology of the microbes themselves and of the host responses they elicit and we seek to identify and exploit virulence factors for novel interventions and as epidemiological and taxonomic markers as tools to inform public health policy. As a laboratory working in Neglected Tropical Diseases my laboratory is a cosmopolitan one. We collaborate widely, into large established internationally funded networks as well as by forming less formal networks particularly into endemic areas and with specialist facilities.
