个人简介
My research interests focus on chronic and latent viral infections, and potential approaches to their eradication. Much of our work involves the use of DNA editing enzymes, including homing endonucleases, zinc finger nucleases, and TAL effector nucleases, to induce deletion of essential viral genes or cellular receptors for virus. We have active projects in HIV, hepatitis B virus, herpes simplex virus, and human papillomavirus. Our long-term goal is to develop curative therapies for each of these infections. Clinically, I serve as Director of the University of Washington molecular virology laboratory, and consult regarding all aspects of virology testing. Specific areas of interest include real time PCR, automation of nucleic acid extraction, and diagnosis of disease caused by herpes viruses, enterovirus, JC and BK viruses, parvovirus B19, and hepatitis viruses.
