Bio
Keirnan Fowler is a hydrologist with 11 years’ experience across industry and academia. His research has two main points of focus: (i) understanding how natural river catchments responded to past changes in climate, so that we can better project future water availability; and (ii) developing better ways to make decisions about water systems given we're uncertain about future climate change.
Keirnan began his career as a consulting engineering for six years with Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM, now Jacobs), working for a variety of government and industry clients on projects covering water resources management, catchment modelling and flood risk.
During 2014-2017 Keirnan undertook a PhD at the University of Melbourne, aiming to improve rainfall-runoff modelling under changing climatic conditions. He continues his interest in improving these models and how we use them.
Keirnan's present and past research has partnered with numerous Australian agencies including the Department of Land, Water and Planning, Victoria and the Bureau of Meteorology. He is involved in international research efforts including the Panta Rhei intiative of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences, through the working group on Large Sample Hydrology.
