Bio
Kazunobu Hashimoto (Member, IEEE) was born in Japan, in 1951. He received the M.Eng. and D.Eng. degrees in applied chemistry from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1982.
He joined Tokai Rubber Industries Company Ltd. (current Sumitomo Riko Company Ltd.), in 1982, and retired, in 2016, where he has been the General Manager with the Soft Electronics Materials and Soft Mechanics Research Department. From 2011 to 2016, he was a Visiting Professor with the Corporative Research Division, Kyushu University, and has worked as the Project Leader for both A-STEP (Adaptable and Seamless Technology Transfer Program through Target-driven R&D, supported by Japan Science and Technology Agency) projects about wearable walking-assistive device and soft artificial muscle. He is currently an Adjunct Professor with the Hebei University of Technology. His current research interests include the development of e-skin (electronic skin or artificial skin), artificial muscle, and wearable personal assistive devices. He was a co-recipient of the Best Paper Award in ICAMechS 2013.
