On the surface of graphene functionalized with sugar chains, the infection process of virus will be reproduced in the high accuracy and quantitatively. This allows us to elucidate the mechanism that causes the pandemic of avian influenza virus that obtained human infectious. As a result, it will achieve the rapid diagnosis with high sensitivity of the influenza. The present study proposes an entirely new possibility to form the biological model by using the two-dimensional material, which will contribute widely from basic research of virus infection to medical applications that can prevent the world epidemic of the influenza.
