个人简介
Kazuaki Wagatsuma is a Professor in Institute for Materials Research (IMR) at Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan. He received his Ph.D. in the Graduate School of Technology in 1986 from Tohoku University under the guidance of Prof. Kichinosuke Hirokawa. His dissertation was directed for the fundamental research of glow discharge plasma for emission spectrometry and its application for solid sample analysis. After graduation, he was an assistant professor at Research Institute for Iron, Steel, and Other Metals, Tohoku University, Japan, until 1997. He has been promoted to a Full Professor in IMR, Tohoku University, in 2001, and has served as the Head of Core for Analytical Research of Materials at IMR since 2003.
His research interests include plasma emission spectroscopy in general, especially such as glow discharge plasma and laser-induced plasma, and the development and application of new plasma techniques for metallic materials. He is an author of over 280 scientific publications, more than 30 reviews in the field of atomic spectroscopy, and 5 book chapters on analytical spectrometry. He received the Scientific Contribution Award and the Cooperative Research Award from The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan in 2013, and the Best Paper Awards in 2012 and 2013 from The Japan Society for Copper and Copper Alloys. He serves as the International Advisory Board of Applied Spectroscopy Reviews (USA) and Metallurgical Analysis (China), and the Editorial Board of The Japan Institute for Metals. He is currently a Vice Chairman of the International Committee of Analysis in Steel and Iron Industry (ICASI) from 2012.
