Bio
Dr. Bayless received her PhD in Medical Physiology in 1999. Her doctoral training focused on purifying osteopontin and characterizing integrin binding in vascular cells and leukocytes. She performed post-doctoral studies in Pathology under the mentorship of George Davis, where she studied the role of Rho GTPases in endothelial cell morphogenesis. She became an Assistant Professor in 2005 and joined the Department of Molecular and Cellular Medicine in 2006. She is currently an Associate Professor, and her research program covers two areas. First, understanding the role of scaffold proteins in the initiation of angiogenic sprouting. Second, designing protein-based biomaterials to promote effective neovascularization.
