Kaustubh Joag

Dr. Kaustubh Joag is a consultant psychiatrist and working as a senior research fellow at Center for Mental Health Law and Policy, Indian Law Society, Pune. My areas of interest are public mental health, implementation research, ethics, and human-rights oriented mental health service delivery. I am associated with the International Diploma in Mental Health, Human Rights and Law since 2008. I was a co-investigator and managed implementation for proof of concept study called ‘Atmiyata’ from 2013 to 2015 which was conducted across 40 villages in the Nashik district of the state of Maharashtra. From 2016 to 2019, I was a Principal Investigator for a transition to scale study in which Atmiyata got implemented across 500 villages in the district of Mahesana. We employed the Stepped-Wedge Cluster Randomized Trial to evaluate the effectiveness of the Atmiyata model. Currently, I am the co-lead for scaling-up Atmiyata in different contexts and geographies.
