Bio
Dr Karen Trimmer (B.Sc; Dip.Ed; B.Ed; M.Ed.(Hons); GCert PSM; DBA) karen.trimmer@usq.edu.au is a Professor with the University of Southern Queensland. Previously she has held roles as the Assistant Dean Staffing in the Faculty of Education at the University of Southern Queensland; Senior Benefits Management Consultant with Western Power; Manager of Policy, Evaluation and Research with the WA Department of Education and Training; and Principal Performance Analyst with the WA Office of the Auditor General. She has conducted reviews and authored reports evaluating outcomes of government initiatives, with impact on legislation and policy, for the Office of the Auditor General for tabling in the Parliament of Western Australia. She has managed small and large scale longitudinal studies in education, including projects in early childhood, primary, district high and secondary schools in metropolitan, regional and remote areas of Western Australia for the Department of Education and Training resulting in research reports utilised for policy development within the State. Her research interests also include decision-making by school principals; policy and governance; social justice impacts of policy; Indigenous participation in higher education; political pressures on rigorous and ethical research; and quantitative methods and she has presented at national and international conferences and participated on National Committees for Evaluation of Commonwealth Partnership Agreements related to the Digital Education Revolution and Early Childhood Education.
