Bio
Karen Peebles gained her Physiotherapy degree at Otago Polytechnic in New Zealand in 1985, followed by a Higher Degree (physiology) course at the University of London, and a PhD. She has over 20 years of combined clinical and teaching experience, primarily focusing on cardiopulmonary physiotherapy. Prior to her appointment at Macquarie University, Karen was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Surgery, Anaesthesia and Physiology at the University of Otago, NZ.
She is an active researcher at Macquarie University, where she also lectures students in the Doctorate of Physiotherapy program. Her research interests include cardio-respiratory interactions, and consider mechanism that regulate human cerebral blood flow in conditions of relevance to physiotherapy. She has lead or collaborate on over 30 published articles in high impact Physiology journals and remains a member of both the Physiological Society of NZ and the Dunedin Company of Physiologists.
