Bio
Materials Science Engineer specialised in polymeric materials and Master in Mechanical Engineering, oriented to the design of thermoplastic and thermoset materials, by the Universidad Simón Bolívar (USB, Venezuela) and Master in Instrumentation in Physics oriented to the microstructural characterisation of polymeric materials by the Universidad de Valladolid (UVA, Spain). Her undergraduate studies were homologated in Spain at the degree level of Materials Engineer. All her bachelor's and master's research work was related to the microstructural study of nano-additivated materials. PhD. in Physical Sciences from the UVA in 2012, whose research went a step further in the technology of nano-additivated materials, studying in-situ technology aimed at the design of selective polymerisation processes for high performance polymers. The researched technology was patented. Subsequently, she was awarded the Torres Quevedo grant. From 2012 to 2022 she has worked as a project manager/researcher at the CIDAUT Foundation. Her 10 years in the materials-process-product department have allowed her to research in chemical synthesis of new polymers, composites and nanocomposites and new formulations of recycled polymeric materials and bioplastics focused on the development of new applications for different industrial sectors, through contracts with companies and management of National, Regional and European projects. In addition, she managed the laboratory of microstructural characterisation of materials, which allowed her to be trained in different characterisation techniques and to be more aware of the structure-properties relationship. She combined her work at the technology centre with teaching and active collaboration with the Department of Condensed Matter Physics at the UVA, where she was an associate professor for three years in the master's degree in automotive (advanced materials) and in the lab. Physics. She was part of the research group recognised by the UVA: GIR of polymer science and engineering directed by Prof. José María Pastor, from where she led important collaborative research projects. Her teaching work went beyond her collaboration with the university, as she also tutored 4 students of the Degree in Laboratory and Quality Control, in the laboratory she directed; in addition, she has tutored 3 doctoral theses, all of them on the microstructural modification of polymeric materials. The tutored theses have been carried out in collaboration with the University of Akron, the University of Porto, CSIC and Stanford University. Finally, she has collaborated for the last 3 years with ASTI TALENT FOUNDATION for the development of the STEM TALENT GIRL project, acting as a mentor, with the aim of promoting talent and the development of women's scientific-technological vocations. This shows that in addition to her research career, and her clear development in industrial environments, she has demonstrated a clear vocation for training. In 2021, he received the positive evaluation of ACSUCYL as a Professor Hired Doctor of Public and Private Universities. Although her work has always focused on applied research, she has never neglected basic research and its dissemination, and has published more than 30 papers in internationally indexed journals. In addition, she has presented more than 40 communications at international and national conferences, has acted as a reviewer of high impact scientific articles (Elsevier, Wiley, etc.), has been a member of the committee of evaluators of doctoral theses and has been guest editor of the special issue "Development in Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composites" for Polymers Journal. She has received some recognitions such as the Special New Venture Award of the Challenge-University-Company Competition that was awarded to her GIR in 2019. She has been principal investigator in 10 competitive research projects with National and European funding and has participated in more than 5 as part of the research team and worked on more than 15 R&D service contracts with industry. Her professional development and her approach to applied research in the field of polymer chemistry have been enriched by the close collaboration she has maintained with other National and International R&D centres such as: Fraunhofer ICT, TuDELF, University of Akron, University of Waterloo, INEGI, ICTP, Tecnalia, etc. As well as collaboration with R&D centres of large multinationals such as: Dow Chemical, Repsol, Viscofan, Airbus, Grupo Antolin, Faurecia, etc. In 2022 he joined as staff of UVA, through an important competitive programme Post doc researcher UVA, bringing his industrial experience and knowledge transfer to the university environment.
