His research focuses on mass spectrometry (MS), its hyphenation with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC/MS), supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC/MS), and ion mobility (IM/MS). He has investigated new approaches to an isomeric analysis by ion mobility mass spectrometry using the profiles of mobility peaks, revealing indigo's origin by ion mobility spectrometry coupled to mass spectrometry applying machine learning, different separation systems (stationary-mobile phase), e.g., for the plant gums' analysis, and wide polarity range food dyes' separation. He teaches courses of analytical chemistry, liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry. He has supervised 13 bachelor's, 33 master's, and 12 doctoral theses. His research was/is supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, the European Union, the Czech Science Foundation, the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. He is a supervisor in the project MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships (Horizon Europe).
