A/Prof Allott is a Principal Research Fellow and Clinical Neuropsychologist at Orygen and the Centre for Youth Mental Health, The University of Melbourne. She first worked in the Centre for Youth Mental Health as a Research Assistant in 2000 and worked on several research projects focusing on personality disorders and early psychosis in adolescents and young adults.
In 2007 she graduated from Monash University with a Doctorate of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology), after which she obtained a joint clinical-research position at Orygen as a Research Fellow and Clinical Neuropsychologist in the Neuropsychology Unit. In 2010 Dr Allott was awarded a full-time NHMRC Clinical Research Postdoctoral Training Fellowship, which was followed by a Ronald Philip Griffiths Fellowship from the Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences. She recently received a NHMRC Career Development Fellowship to continue her work in understanding and treating cognitive dysfunction in youth mental health. Her research focuses on examining the role of cognition and social cognition in youth mental illness, including the relative contribution of cognition to functional outcome and novel and youth friendly interventions for addressing cognition and functioning in youth mental illness.
