Justin Atchison earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Cornell University. He currently works at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory where he's the Mission Design lead for NASA's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) and was the Navigation lead for NASA's Van Allen Probes through their mission completion. His research interests include trajectory optimization, many-revolution low thrust spacecraft transfers, and small body mass determination.
