个人简介
His current research focus includes facial/character animation, virtual reality, immersive and interactive display of panoramic content. Prior to his academic career, he was a graphics scientist at a Hollywood visual effects company, Rhythm and Hues Studios. He performed R&D for movie post productions including Superman Returns, Happy Feet, The Chronicles of Narnia, Garfield, Around the world in 80 days, and The Chronicles of Riddick. Currently, he is the director of Visual Media Lab at KAIST and conducts research to develop software that can be practically utilized for the creation of movie visual effects and animated films. His research has also contributed to the production of recent Korean movies such as Sector 7, The cats, Jumbagi, and The nine taled fox. Internationally, he has developed facial animation techniques in collaboration with Weta Digital. He is an author of numerous high quality research papers including the ones presented in SIGGRAPH, the most prestigious computer graphics conference. He held the title of KAIST chair professorship (2011) and received a technical innovation award from KAIST (2011). One of the research results, ScreenX, was selected as one of ten most representative research outcomes from KAIST (2013) and was also selected as one of three flagship projects by the Korean government (2015).
