Julian D. Booker received the B.Eng. degree in design and manufacting, and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Hull, Hull, U.K., in 1993 and 1999, respectively. He is a Reader with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Bristol, Bristol, U.K. His research interests include the development and implementation of design methods, the design and testing of novel electro-mechanical technologies, and frictional component design problems, with applications across many industrial sectors including renewable energy. Dr. Booker has been a fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers since 2009 and a Chartered Engineer since 1997.
