Juan C. Lucena

Juan Lucena received two B.S. degrees in mechanical and aeronautical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, USA, in 1987, and the Ph.D. degree in science and technology studies from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA, in 1996. He is the Director of humanitarian engineering undergraduate programs and outreach, as well as a Professor in Engineering, Design, and Society with the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, CO, USA. His books include Defending the Nation: U.S. Policymaking to Create Scientists and Engineers from Sputnik to the “War Against Terrorism,” Engineering and Sustainable Community Development (with Jen Schneider and Jon Leydens), Engineering Education for Social Justice: Critical Explorations and Opportunities, and Engineering Justice: Transforming Engineering Education and Practice (with Jon Leydens).
