个人简介
I am a researcher with an extended experience in the use of electron microscopy techniques to understand the atomic scale behavior of functional materials. I obtained my PhD from the Universidad de Cádiz in 2008 with the thesis “Evaluation by electron beam related techniques of In(Ga)N heterostructures for applications in opto/microelectronics” with the highest qualification. My thesis obtained the prize to the best PhD Thesis in Materials Science 2008 awarded by the Spanish Microscopy Society and the best PhD Thesis award by the European network of Excellence SANDiE. After a short period as a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Physical Sciences, Dublin City University, I moved to the Department of Materials at the University of Oxford as an EC Marie Curie Research Fellow in May 2010. During this period, I acquired experience in the use of aberration corrected STEM and EELS for the structural and chemical characterization of self-forming diffusion barriers for device interconnects. I continued my research in the Department after my Fellowship finished, and subsequently worked in the development of optical sectioning in the STEM to retrieve three-dimensional information of the strain associated with extended defects in nanomaterials and in the advanced transmission electron microscopy characterisation - with especial interest on in-situ techniques - of in-house grown 0D, 1D and 2D nanomaterials. During my last period at Oxford, I worked in one of the most prestigious groups worldwide researching battery materials and technology, led by Prof. Peter Bruce FRS. There, I was part of an interdisciplinary groupand became familiar with the state of the art, challenges and general know-how in battery materials. I acted as the bridge between the microscopy and battery groups, two of the most powerful within the Department. In this position, I started a new and mostly independent line of research within the group for which I was entirely responsible. I applied the latest emerging electron microscopy techniques such as dose-controlled STEM, electron ptychography and in-situ electrochemistry to understand the atomic-scale behaviour of pristine and cycled Li-rich and Na cathodes, Li-air systems and solid electrolytes. I have recently taken up my current position at the Universidad de Sevilla, where I aim to establish an independent research line on advanced electron microscopy techniques of functional materials.
