Bio
Joshua Semeter (M'96–SM'06) received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Amherst, MA, USA, in 1987 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Boston University (BU), Boston, MA, in 1992 and 1997, respectively, all in electrical engineering.
He is currently a Professor in electrical and computer engineering with BU, where he is the Associate Director of the BU Center for Space Physics. Prior to joining BU, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, Garching, Germany, in 1997–1999, and a Senior Research Engineer with SRI International, in 1999–2004. His research is focused on the physics and societal consequences of space weather. Activities in his laboratory include radar signal processing, physical simulation and modeling, optical sensors, small satellites, and the formal application of inverse theory to geophysical signals.
Dr. Semeter has served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Geophysical Research, and on a variety of advisory committees to the National Science Foundation, NASA, and National Academies.
