个人简介
I am early career colloid and surface scientist currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow within the ARC Centre of Excellence for Enabling Eco-Efficient Beneficiation of Minerals at the University of Newcastle, Australia. I am also an Australian Institute of Nuclear Science & Engineering (AINSE) early career research fellow.
My research is truly cross-disciplinary, combining surface and polymer chemistry with innovative materials engineering approaches to solve relevant industrial problems. I am highly collaborative and foster an inclusive and highly intellectual environment within my research projects and teaching activities. I have experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the form of lectures, tutorials, and laboratory in the fields of physical chemistry and materials science. I apply my expertise to develop, characterise and implement responsive polymeric reagents for selective flotation of valuable minerals. I also work on novel membrane materials made through non-equilibrium aqueous phase separation and polyelectrolyte complexation approaches. In addition, I study a range of soft matter systems relevant to lubrication, protective coatings, and separation phenomena. I focus my research on fundamental polymer–molecule and polymer–ion interactions and I am an expert in neutron and x-ray reflectometry and scattering, spectral ellipsometry, quartz crystal microbalance measurements, self-consistent field theory and ‘living’ polymerisation methods.
The nature of my research lends itself to collaboration, a mode of research that I particularly enjoy, whether it be with colleagues at my current university, elsewhere in Australia, and indeed internationally. I have an excellent record of collaborative research coupled with successful research higher degree supervision. Throughout my career, I have made significant contributions to the understanding of the solid-liquid interface in the presence of pH, salt, temperature, and specific ion-responsive polymers as well as the development of functional membrane materials; evidenced by my strong record of publishing in international peer-reviewed journals of high impact.
