Bio
Joseph Wang received the B.Eng. degree in engineering mechanics from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1985, and the S.M. degree in aeronautics and astronautics and the Ph.D. degree in plasma physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA, in 1988 and 1991, respectively.
From 1991 to 2001, he was a Staff Member with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, La Cañada Flintridge, CA, USA, and on the Aerospace Engineering Faculty with Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA, from 2001 to 2008. Since 2008, he has been with the Department of Astronautical Engineering, University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, CA, USA, where he is currently a Professor of astronautics and aerospace and mechanical engineering. His current research interests include spacecraft environmental interactions, space and planetary physics, spacecraft propulsion, and plasma simulation algorithms.
