Bio
Dr Joseph K. Ogunjobi is an academic researcher in Green Chemistry and Clean Technology at the Federal University of Technology, Akure from where he has been driving the research underpinning the principles of green chemistry in Nigeria. He had his B.Tech and M.Tech from the same university in 2008 and 2012 respectively, and PhD from the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence, Department of Chemistry, University of York, United Kingdom under Prof. James Clark in 2016.
Dr Ogunjobi applies green chemistry principles to develop bio-based materials (importantly polymers and surfactants) from platform molecules; valourise lignocellulosic wastes into fuels and other value-added chemicals; synthesise and develop heterogeneous catalysts and investigate biologically active plant natural products that may function as green pharmaceuticals, antimicrobials and agrochemicals. Recently, his research interest covers nanotechnology, self-assembly and development of greener macromolecules from agricultural residues with application in oil and gas industries to tackle oil spills remediation challenges.
