Bio
Jose Carpio (M'90–SM'06) received the Industrial Engineer and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), Madrid, Spain, in 1985 and 1988, respectively.
His academic career as a teacher of electrical engineering at different Spanish universities began in 1988. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Spanish National University for Distance Education (UNED), Madrid. In 1992, he joined the Department of Operations Research at Stanford University, Stanford, CA, as a Visiting Researcher for a 15-month stay. His research interests lie in power systems, use and integration of renewable energy (mainly photovoltaic), electromagnetic compatibility, and new information and communication technologies for education.
Dr. Carpio is a member of a number of international associations and professional organizations, including CIGRE, International Energy Foundation, European EMTP-ATP Users Group, and International Solar Energy Society.
