Bio
Josep A. Gili was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1957. He received the Ingeniero de Caminos degree in civil engineering and the Doctor Ingeniero de Caminos degree from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, in 1981 and 1988, respectively.
In 1982, he joined the Department of Geotechnical Engineering and Geosciences, UPC, as a Research Assistant. In 1985, he became an Assistant Professor, and in 1989, he became an Associate Professor at the School of Civil Engineering, UPC. He was the Subdirector at the Institute of Geomatics between 1998 and 2006. He is currently a Full Professor in rock mechanics and geomatics at the UPC, where he is involved in teaching and research in geomechanics, geomatics, and landslide monitoring. He has published more than 50 contributions on these topics.
