Bio
Dr. Poveda joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of UC San Diego in 2022. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UC Santa Barbara in 2016 and 2018, respectively, and double B.S. degrees in Electronics and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Los Andes, Colombia, in 2012. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University in 2018 before joining the ECEE department of the University of Colorado Boulder from 2019 until 2022. During the summers of 2016 and 2017, he was also a Research Intern at the Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories in Cambridge, MA.
Dr. Poveda's work has been recognized with the CRII and CAREER awards from the National Science Foundation, the Young Investigator Award from Air Force Office of Scientific Research, the campus-wide 2022 "Research and Innovation Faculty Fellowship" from the Univ. of Colorado, and the CCDC "Outstanding Scholar Fellowship" and "Best Ph.D. Thesis" Awards from UC Santa Barbara. He has co-authored papers that have been finalists for the "Best Student Paper" awards at the IEEE Conference on Decision and Control in 2017 (as first author) and 2021 (as co-author).
