个人简介
My research focus is Human-Machine Interaction, specializing in ‘touchless’ interactions. The primary application area of my research is car driving, but my research is also used in aviation and the medical domain. I am employed in the Department of Cognitive Robotics of 3mE. The word ‘cognitive’ is especially important in my group: As I detail below, the cognitive processes of humans and machines need to be integrated.
Technology is changing rapidly. Mechanical devices are increasingly computerized: they acquire data via sensors, make decisions, and implement actions themselves. A good example of these developments is driving. At present, 1.3 million fatal road traffic accidents occur worldwide each year, and almost all of these accidents are caused by human error, such as distraction and poor hazard perception. Automated driving could improve road safety by significant amounts.
