My research interest is in vector-borne diseases (dengue and malaria) and medical entomology (Aedes and Anopheles), specifically in transmission biology and control. Using molecular biology techniques, I am currently carrying out studies on 1) a randomized controlled trial to investigate the efficacy of using the GOS trap + detection of dengue NS1 in trapped Aedes to reduce dengue epidemics 2) molecular epidemiology of symptomatic and asymptomatic dengue and malaria in the clinical and field settings 3) detection of symptomatic and clinically inapparent dengue, and their infectiousness to Aedes mosquitoes 4) distribution and prevalence of Anopheles vectors of simian malaria in Malaysia 5) malaria parasites in the mosquitoes, humans and monkey reservoirs in Malaysia
