Bio
Jonathan M. Cannata (Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree in bioengineering from the University of California at San Diego, San Diego, CA, USA, in 1998, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in bioengineering from Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, USA, in 2000 and 2004, respectively.
From 2005 to 2011, he was a Research Assistant Professor of biomedical engineering with the University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, CA, USA. He served as the Manager of the NIH Resource on Medical Ultrasonic Transducer Technology at Pennsylvania State University, from 2001 to 2002, and USC, from 2002 to 2011. Since 2011, he has been a Research and Development Team Member HistoSonics, Inc., Ann Arbor, MI, USA, holding positions of a Senior Ultrasound Engineer, from 2011 to 2017, the Director of Research, from 2017 to 2020, and the Director of Research and Advanced Development, since 2020. He has coauthored more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and more than 40 conference papers related to medical ultrasound, ultrasound transducer design, and clinical applications of HIFU including histotripsy.
Dr. Cannata is a U.S. Delegate for TC87 (Ultrasonics) for the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
