Bio
John Barrett (M’82–SM’96) joined the Nimbus Research Center, Cork Institute of Technology, Cork, Ireland, as a Lecturer in 1999 and was designated a Professor in 2017, where he is currently the Head of Academic Studies. He has been active nationally and internationally in electronic systems integration research for over 35 years. He was an Assistant Director of the National Microelectronics Research Center (now Tyndall National Institute), University College Cork, Cork. He has supervised more than 40 postgraduate students. He has authored or coauthored over 100 publications in his field. He is an international invited speaker on emerging smart technologies. His current research interests include packaging, miniaturization, and embedding of smart systems in materials, objects, and structures with particular emphasis on challenging and harsh application environments.
