个人简介
John Fakidis was awarded the Diploma (MEng) in electrical and computer engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2011. He was awarded the PhD for his thesis titled "Optical Wireless Energy Transfer for Self-Sufficient Small Cells" from the Institute for Digital Communications of the University of Edinburgh in the UK in 2017. During his PhD research, he worked collaboratively with the industrial partner Nokia, Bell Laboratories in Ireland. He has been a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Light Fidelity (LiFi) Systems at the LiFi Research and Development Center (LRDC) in the University of Edinburgh until 2020. He is currently the Optical Engineer of the LRDC engineering team of the University of Strathclyde. His role focuses on the optical design and prototyping of laser and photovoltaic (PV) systems for wireless data communication and energy harvesting. Achievements include the demonstration of world-record data rates (Gb/s) in laser-PV data communication and the successful installation of a world's first infrared laser-PV prototype for the provision of internet access in remote areas (Orkney Islands, UK).
