Career Trajectory
Bio
John Paden (Senior Member, IEEE) received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Kansas (KU), Lawrence, KS, USA, in 2003 and 2006, respectively, with a focus on radar signal and data processing for remote sensing of the cryosphere.
After graduating, he joined Vexcel Corporation, Boulder, CO, USA, a remote sensing company, where he was a Systems Engineer and an SAR Engineer for three and a half years before rejoining the Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets (CReSIS), KU, in early 2010, to lead the radar signal and data processing efforts. He is currently a Research Faculty Member with CReSIS with a courtesy appointment in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department.
Dr. Paden was awarded the American Geophysical Union Cryosphere Early Career Award in 2016. He has also received three NASA group achievement awards for radioglaciology work.
