Bio
Johannes Ulrich Siebert received the diploma degree in business administration, the Doctor degree in multicriteria decision making, and a habilitation degree in behavioral operations research and decision analysis from the University of Bayreuth, Bayreuth, Germany, in 2005, 2009, and 2015, respectively. He has been a business consultant for both public and private organizations in the US and in Europe. For example, he identified and structured the strategic objectives for a huge European energy provider after Germany decided to fade out nuclear energy and for the California Ministry of Transportation when allocating a 12 billion budget for maintenance of highways and bridges in California. As a Visiting Researcher with the Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events, he identified and structured the objectives of the terrorist group Islamic State to provide a basis to create effective procedures to protect civilians in the Middle East, the United States, and Europe. Since 2017, he has been a Professor for supply chain management and decision sciences with the Management Center Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria. He has authored and coauthored papers in international leading journals such as Operations Research and European Journal of Operational Research. His research interests include proactive decision making and value-focused thinking. His main objective is to contribute to better-informed decision making and thereby to making better decisions for individuals as well as for organizations. He is member of the Executive Committee of the International Society on MCDM, Member of the Coordinating Board of the European Working Group of Behavioral Operations Research, Member of the Editorial Board of the INFORMS journal Decision Analysis, and Member of the Advisor Board of the Alliance for Decision Education. He was acknowledged as finalist in the INFORMS Decision Analysis Society Practice Award in 2016, 2017, and 2020.
