Joel A. Spencer received the B.S. degree in biological sciences from the University of California (UC), Irvine, in 2002. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering at Tufts University, Medford, MA. From February to July of 2003, he was a Research Assistant at the General Clinical Research Center, UC Irvine Medical Center, Irvine. From July of 2003 until July of 2005, he was a Laboratory Assistant I and II in Prof. Bogi Andersen's Laboratory at the UC Irvine College of Medicine, Irvine. Thereafter, he was an Optical Engineer with Dr. Charles Lin in the Advanced Microscopy Program of the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. His previous research interests included molecular biology, with special emphasis on cancer biology. His current research interests include immunology, cancer biology, and biomedical optics.
