His research relies heavily on a high-quality synthesis of size-, shape- and crystallographic facet-controlled nanocrystals and various evaluations of the relevant physical and chemical phenomena. The ongoing research topics include (1) solution-based synthesis of functional nanocrystals with shape control; (2) self-assembly and 3D-/2D-superlattice study of non-spherical nanocrystals; (3) pressure-induced phase transition of nanocrystals and organic-inorganic halide perovskites; (4) study of metal lattice strain effects on catalytic and electrocatalytic performance; (5) development of novel PGM-free and PGM-based intermetallic electrocatalysts for alkaline ORR applications; (6) investigation of gas-phase reaction and oxidative coupling of methane towards C2 products.
