Dr. Lan Jirong obtained his PhD degree of engineering in resource and environment from Wuhan University (WHU), China in Dec 2022 (Early graduation base on academic excellence, Sep 2020-Dec 2022). He is the certified expert of Non-ferrous metals think tank of The Nonferrous Metals Society of China (Jul 2023 to now). He was the chair of National Doctoral Academic Conference Solid Waste Pollution control and resources branch. And the assistant director of Ecological and Environmental Damage Assessment Center of China. He was employed by the Department of Ecology and Environment of Hubei Province as Provincial instructor of national pollution source survey. Dr. Lan Jirong’s research interests mainly include high value-added environmental functional materials, bulk solid waste (e.g., MSWIFA, Tailings, and sludge) resource treatment. Currently, his research will particularly focus on civil environment material application of municipal inorganic solid waste and its practical applications. He was a core member of the National Key Research and Development Program of China (2018YFC1801700, 2020YFC1806401). He developed the technology of preparing green environmental functional materials based on solid waste and realized the technical path of transforming "solid waste" into products of high economic value, which won the “Grand Prize of Hubei Science and Technology Progress Award”. He has obtained 12 national invention patents, published 35 academic papers, including 33 SCI Q1 papers, and cited 650 times. The technical achievements have been applied in Yunnan, Guangxi, Hubei, and Jiangxi provinces in China. Together with the research team, he established a solid waste based environmental material production base with an annual output of more than 600,000 tons and a solid waste treatment project of 250 million tons. He is the Person of the Year for Nation College Students Award of China in 2022 and 2020 (中國大學生年度人物) and The Stars Model of Self-improvement of Chinese College Students in 2019 (中國大學生自強之星標兵). During the postgraduate study period, he has won more than 80 awards such as National Scholarship, Merit Student, Outstanding University Student of Hubei Province, Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Award of Hubei University Students, outstanding graduate pacesetter, and Top Ten Academic Star Pacesetter of Wuhan University.
