Initiated investigation on immunological mechanism of Meniere’s disease as the first one in China in 1987. Discovered MRI manifestation of endolymphatic hydrops in 2000 that provided a reliable diagnostical tool for Meniere’s disease and influenced the clinical practice of otologist worldwide. Evaluated the behavior of various nanomaterials associated to the inner ear imaging and therapy in European Community 6th and 7th Framework Program projects. Found the size-dependent transportation of liposome nanocarriers across the middle-inner ear barriers. Proved that the oval window passage is significantly more efficient that round window in 2010. Proposed the hypothesis of shearing stress in the vestibular system in 2012. Designed novel protocol of surgically delivering high-dose steroids to the surface of the intact ES and incus to treat intractable Meniere’s disease in 2018. Additionally, started the round window reinforcement to treat superior semicircular canal dehiscence as the first one in China in 2014.
