Jianyong Shou

Dr. Jianyong Shou joined EnnovaBio in Jan 2018 as a co-founder and CSO. Prior to this, Dr. Shou was with Lilly China a Senior Research Director and the Head of Platform Biology. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the entire LCRDC portfolio projects and applying contemporary platform biology technologies to support drug discovery and development pipeline. He was also involved in exploring new research areas and external innovation opportunities. Dr. Shou worked briefly in the Neuroinflammation DPU at GSK R&D Center China as the Biology Director. There he was mainly responsible for advancing drug discovery and development portfolio in the fields of neuroscience and inflammation. Dr. Shou joined China Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (CNIBR) in 2008 as a Senior Investigator and then promoted to the Head to Regenerative Medicine. He established and led a research program in regenerative medicine, which consists of 20 plus Ph.Ds, with projects covering hearing loss, metabolic disease, muscle atrophy, and neuroscience. The hearing research program was the first of its kind in pharmaceutical industry with the leading molecules being advanced to clinical development stages. Before coming back to China, Dr. Shou worked for Eli Lilly Company for more than 6 years at its Indianapolis headquarter. He lead the Lilly proof of concept microarray program and supported numerous projects across different therapeutic areas by using transcriptome profiling technologies. As a drug hunter, Dr. Shou also led several oncology drug discovery projects targeting tumor microenvironment and angiogenesis. Multiple projects have advanced to clinical development stage. While having worked in several disease areas, Dr. Shou has an excellent track record of scientific accomplishment demonstrated by over 35 original articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, such as Nature Neuroscience, Nature Communications, PNAS, Cancer Research, Genome Research, Development etc. Dr. Shou received his bachelor’s degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1991 and Ph.D. degree in biology from the University of California at Irvine in 1999. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Genentech Inc.
