Jianhua Ruan received the BS degree in biology from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1998, the MS degree in computer science from California State University, San Bernardino in 2002, and the PhD degree in computer science from Washington University in St Louis in 2007. He is currently a professor with the Department of Computer Science, University of Texas at San Antonio. His research interests include bioinformatics, computational biology, and machine learning. His research is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
