Jerzy Langner

Jerzy Langner was born in Warsaw, Poland, on August 3, 1944. He received the M.Sc. degree in nuclear physics from Warsaw University, Warsaw, in 1968, and the Ph.D. degree in technical sciences from Warsaw Technical University, Warsaw, in 1984. From 1968 to 1974, he worked as an Assistant with the Laboratory of High-Temperature Plasma, Soltan Institute for Nuclear Studies (SINS), Swierk, Poland. In 1972, he worked as a Guest Scientist with the Physico-Technical Institute, Kharkov, Ukraine. From 1974 to 1984, he was a Senior Assistant with the Department of High-Temperature Plasma, SINS. In 1984, he was nominated the Assistant Professor and a Deputy Head of the Department of Thermonuclear Research at the same institute. Since 1988, he has been a Deputy Head of the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology at SINS. His research activities concern the generation of pulsed plasma streams within RPI-type facilities, the pulse implantation of ions into semiconductors, alloys and ceramics, and recently—the deposition of thin superconducting layers by means of arc discharges under ultrahigh vacuum conditions.
