Career Trajectory
Bio
Jeong-Chae Lee is now working in Chonbuk National University, South Korea as professor. Research field of Jeong-Chae Lee’s laboratory is cell biology especially bioactive materials-mediated signal transduction and AP-1/NF-kappaB-regulated cellular responses. His research aims are to understand the acting mechanisms of bioactive materials, the signal transduction pathways involved in mechanotransduction, and the differentiation mechanism of stem-like cells such as periodontal ligament stem cells and satellite cells.
Jeong-Chae Lee studied biochemistry and cell biology at the Department of Animal Sciences of Chonnam National University, where he obtained a bachelor, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 1995, 1997 and 2000, respectively. During Ph.D course, his main focus was to elucidate the regulatory effects of naturally occurring phenolic compounds on apoptosis, production of cytokines, and activation of AP-1 and NF-kappaB in immune cells. During post-doctoral period (2000-2003) at the Department of Biological Sciences of Chonbuk National University, he studied the mechanism(s) by which macromolecules such as polysaccharide and glycoproteins purified from traditional medicines induce immune stimulation and an antigen specific-immune response.
He is currently leader at the Lab. of Cell Biology in the Chonbuk National University Dental Hospital and is also manager at the Research Center of Bioactive Materials of Chonbuk National University. He is a corresponding author or co-author of over 100 publications published in peer-reviewed journals.
