Bio
Jen is a midwife who worked in the Australian public maternity system for 20 years before commencing as a lecturer in the Bachelor of Midwifery program at the Australian Catholic University (Melbourne) in 2018. In 2020 Jen completed her PhD – a focused ethnographic study of Lactation Consultant practice which attempted to answer the question: “How do LCs support women to breastfeed?”
She continues in a teaching role in the BMID program while gradually building her research and advocacy profile across many aspects of breastfeeding support – from evaluation of socio-demographic and structural barriers and enablers to the pre-registration education of health professionals. Jen has been the Victorian branch chair of the Australian College of Midwives since 2018.
Jen enjoys indoor soccer, yoga and dog walking and blogs at jenhock.com
