Bio
My PhD research is based on controlling transmission of dengue and Zika viruses using Wolbachia, a novel bio-tool. Our research team is looking in to the molecular mechanism of wolbachia based interference to viruses in vector mosquitoes (Aedes). In addition, we work to observe the Wolbachia-based refractoriness of Anopheles mosquitoes to malaria parasites. Finally, to establish improved strategies based on Wolbachia for mosquito population replacement and suppression.
My current project is baseline study on wolbachia identification in indigenous mosquito population, and population genetics of Aedes mosquito from different climatic zones of Pakistan.
